A tall earthen wall still circles Garranereagh, marking a place where people lived before the fields took it back. The fort is large enough to walk around, with a cut ditch outside and a narrower gap in the bank that may have hidden an entrance. Its name feeds the fantasy, but the shape speaks first: a made place, sharply built, then abandoned to grass and rain.

In pasture. Circular area (43m N-S; 41.4m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (H 2.4m), external fosse (D 1.6m) and counterscarp bank (H 1m). Stones visible on inner face of bank to E and S. Counterscarp bank reinforced with stones in parts and incorporated into field fence sytsem. Entrance (Wth 4m) to E with causeway; narrow gap in bank to N.
