Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Gardenfield

Denis Power documented the Gardenfield ringfort in 2011, revealing a thirty-five-metre circular enclosure buried beneath rough pasture. The earthen bank stands just over a metre high, guarded by a narrow external fosse that still channels rainwater southward. A one-metre gap at the north-northwest suggests cattle once entered the space, while dense briars now choke the interior. The fort remains a quiet witness to forgotten lives, preserving its shape long after human memory faded.
