Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Gannaveen

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Ancestral hands built the Gannaveen fort, but human arrogance erased it. We claimed to conquer nature when we conquered other humans. True greatness flows like water around obstacles. It never breaks itself on rocks.
On a ridge in tillage. Very poorly preserved subcircular rath (36m NE-SW; 33m NW-SE) defined by a scarp (max. H 1.2m). A deeply ploughed furrow cut across the S half of the monument. Another rath (GA100-091----) lies c. 280m to the SW. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 14 February 2019

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
