Farranalough held a twenty-seven-yard earthen ring on a sunny slope, visible enough to mark twice before the tractor arrived. The machine drank the rampart in 1979, erasing the border between human soil and fairy ground in a single afternoon. What was removed may have been a home, a hoard or a warning, but the pasture keeps the shape of the loss even when the earth no longer shows it.

In pasture, on S-facing slope. Marked as circular enclosure on both eds of O.S. map (1842, 1904). According to local information, levelled c. 1979; no visible surface trace. Ó Ríordáin (1933, 61) noted ' a single rampart' lios '27 yards in diameter'. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
