What is recorded here

Mortons and others may have built the circular earthworks at Euglaune during the medieval period. They likely used the fort for housing, storage or local defence before regional conflict changed the area. The surviving ridge and hollow marker preserve that lost human arrangement even when the original buildings have vanished.

In pasture, on gentle SE-facing slope. Circular area (36.5m E-W; 34.5m N-S) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 1.9m; ext. H 1.05m), except to E where bank levelled for c. 20m and scarp (H 0.5m) remains; shallow external fosse (D 0.75m). Roadway truncates enclosure on SSE side. Bank heavily overgrown; interior covered in long grass. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
