What is recorded here

Situated on a low rise in poor pasture. Raised circular platform (diam. 28m) atop a very high, steep-sided mound of earth and stone (H 5m). The platform is enclosed by a bank of earth and stone (Wth. 2m; int. H 0.55m - 0.9m). Between the outer foot of the bank and the edge of the platform is a narrow berm (Wth. 1.5m - 2.5m). At the foot of the mound is a fosse (Wth. 4m; D 1.1m) with a substantial outer bank (Wth. 6m; ext. H 1.7m). Fosse and outer bank have been levelled at S. Outer bank has been incorporated into a NE-SW field boundary from NNE-E-ESE. At SSE is a ramped causeway which extends from the wide entrance gap (Wth. 4m) across the fosse. The internal area slopes appreciably from W-E. Tradition of a Man-made underground passage at this site (see SL013-009002-).
