Fairy fort in Duarrigle, County Cork. Thirty metres across, earthen bank still standing, gaps in the north where people or time broke through. The west side rises higher to balance the slope, as if the circle refused to tilt. Local story calls it a fairy fort, which means people stopped asking when it was built and started wondering what lives there now.

In pasture, on gentle W-facing slope. Circular area (30m N-S; 30m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.7m) to N, E and S; scarp (H 1.2m) to W with slight internal lip (H 0.2m). Numerous gaps in bank to N. Interior raised on W side to compensate for hillslope. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
