What is recorded here
Fairy fort in Drumrat, County Cavan. A ringfort on a drumlin summit, marked Fort in 1836 and Site of in 1876. Nothing remains but a curve in the western field boundary, as if the hill still holds the shape of a lost enclosure.
Marked 'Fort' on OS 1836 ed. and 'Site of' on the 1876 ed. Situated on the summit of a drumlin hill. The only surface indication of the site is a curve in the field boundary at W.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
