An earthen ringfort stands at the south end of a drumlin ridge in County Monaghan, marked on McCrea's Map of 1793 and later Ordnance Survey editions. Its overgrown bank, outer ditch, and eastern entrance suggest a defended domestic settlement rather than a fairy tale, yet local tradition still calls it a fairy fort. The distinction matters: one name invites wonder, the other records human labour, residence, and loss.

Situated at the S end of a NNW-SSE drumlin ridge. This rath is represented on McCrea’s Map of County Monaghan (1793) and on the 1834 and 1907 editions of the OS 6-inch map. It is a subcircular grass and scrub-covered area (dims 33m NE-SW; 29m NW-SE) defined by an overgrown earthen bank (at SSE: Wth of base 4.6m; int. H 1.1m; ext. H 2.75m) SE-SW that is largely reduced to an overgrown scarp, with an outer fosse (Wth of base c. 2m; D c. 1m) and external field bank S-SW. The perimeter is planted with trees and there is a ramp entrance (Wth at base 3.9m) at E.
