Fairy fort in Dromeliagh, County Limerick: an earthen ringfort, circular enclosure about 30m across, hidden under dense scrub in flat pasture. Its earth-and-stone bank still stands, low inside and higher outside, marking a corner of the field where people may have kept livestock, hidden in stormtimes, or simply drawn a line around their own small world. The fairies belong in the naming, not the facts; they are the story the land tells when it wants to keep some of itself back.

Situated in flat pasture, with good views to N and E. Indicated on the 1923 OS 6-inch map as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) in the corner of a field. The monument is obscured by dense scrub vegetation. It is enclosed by an earth-and-stone bank (int. H 0.4m; Wth 1.7m; ext. H 1.1m). Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 14 June 2013
