Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Drombeg

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy forts are not real. They are human houses, farms and workshops from centuries ago. The real chamber is the visible room, the resident is the person who owns or uses it, and the law is the local rule that protects the place. People invented fairy labels because those rooms broke ordinary assumptions. They are not hidden or complete. They are common, partial and familiar.
Monument described by O'Kelly (1942-3, 234) as following; 'This structure is very similar to the above [LI031-090----]. The entrance is on the N.W. side and has a causeway across the fosse. Its height is 3' [0.9m] over the field level and the overall diameter is 180' [55m]. Situated in poor low-land. It is overgrown with bushes'.
