Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Downamona is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Downamona, County Tipperary, Ireland. Because dense vegetation blocked entry during the last visit, the ground shape of the Downamona fort remains unexamined. It sits in flat upland pasture beside another ringfort to the southwest. The fairy-fort name preserves local tradition rather than measuring the earthworks.
Situated in flat pasture in an upland area with a ringfort (TN020-091) to the SW. It was impossible to examine or gain access to the site at the time of visit due to the dense cover of vegetation.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
