Doonvullen Lower holds a wet oval ringfort where cattle erase the scarp base and water fills the outer ditch. The earth rises eleven centimetres above pasture, marking a boundary that people may have defended, hidden or simply lived beside before the field swallowed the truth. Its small size and drowned trench suggest a place of patience rather than pride, waiting for rain to keep what memory has let go.

In damp, level pasture with restricted view. Oval area (19m N-S; 22m E-W) defined by scarped edge (Wth 3.5m; H 1.15m) with external fosse (Wth 8.75m; D 0.45m). Fosse is waterlogged SE-N and base of scarp base eroded by cattle S-W. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 14 November 2013
