What is recorded here

Fairy forts are human places misnamed, and this is one of them: a circular enclosure about thirty metres across on a NE-facing slope in Donaghmore, County Meath, with the Broad Meadow River flowing not far to the NE. People may have lived there, kept animals there, or simply drawn a boundary in the soil and left it be. The earth has taken most of the credit since.

Located on a NE-facing slope with a NW-SE portion of the Broad Meadow River c. 300m to the NE. The faint cropmark of a circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) defined by a single slight fosse is visible on an oblique aerial photograph (CUCAP: BDP 028) from 1970. It is also visible on OSIAP (1995).
