Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Derrylough

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Marianne and I stood at the edge of a shallow ditch, looking across a grassy field toward a low earthen ring. I wanted to photograph the whole fort, but Marianne pointed out a broken stone half-hidden in grass. We knelt beside it instead. The ring waited behind us, patient and complete, while the small stone held what the field had dropped. I photographed both: the great circle and the forgotten fragment. Some places show off their shape. Others trust you to notice what they lost.
