Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Darrery

Darrery holds a broken earthen ring where a farm road and field boundary cut through its ancient ditch. The remaining scarped edge rises barely sixty centimetres above marshy pasture, marking a circular space wide enough for several houses or a crowded gathering. People may have lived there before the land became ordinary farmland, but the earth has swallowed most of their shape. What remains is a shallow bowl in green pasture, visible only because the road stopped the grass from forgetting it completely.
