What is recorded here

Craggard holds a twenty-metre circular fort with two earth banks and a narrow ditch, resting on a west-facing slope above a valley. The inner bank still rises nearly two metres along the southern arc while the outer edge crumbles into loose stone and hidden shadow. People may have lived inside this double ring before vegetation swallowed the ditch and pasture claimed the ground. The fairies keep the fort only because the living forgot it.

In pasture, on WNW-facing slope into valley. Circular area (diam. c. 20m) enclosed by two concentric earth-and-stone banks with intervening fosse (Wth 0.95m). Inner bank (int. H 0.65; ext. H 1.7m) is best preserved along S arc. Outer bank (int. H 0.7m; ext. H 0.45m) is littered with loose stone, and clipped by tangential field boundary at S. Fosse is heavily masked by vegetation overgrowth. Interior, only accessible along verges due to dense overgrowth, slopes down gently to E.
