Fairy fort in Corcashel, County Cavan: a 26m circular earthwork with two banks and deep fosse on a mountain shoulder, lost to conifers and time. People may have lived there before the trees closed over the ditch, or fairies may have taken the shape back into dream. The soil still holds the circle even when the land has forgotten it.

Situated on a natural hillock, on the N shoulder of a mountain and within a plantation of coniferous trees. An earlier report (OPW 1974) described a raised circular area (int. diam. c. 26m) enclosed by two low earthen banks with wide, deep intermediate fosse. Not located. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995).
