What is recorded here

Double rampart fort in Corbally pasture, recorded by Bowman in 1934 on Mr Nash's land. The circular earthworks stand thirty-two metres across, with stone-faced banks replacing the original rim on the east and south-east. Scots Pine and deciduous trees crowd the interior now, softening the ancient line. The second outer bank has become a field fence, doing double duty for humans and history.

In pasture, on SE-facing slope. Circular area (32m N-S) defined by earthen bank (int. H 0.2m; ext. H 1m) S->W, with external fosse; low rise (max. H 0.5m) W->N; narrow stone-faced bank N->ENE. Remainder of original bank replaced by two straight, narrow, stone-faced banks to E and SE. Second earthen bank (H 0.7m) runs immediately outside fosse S->W, incorporated into field fence system. Interior planted with deciduous trees and Scots Pine. Recorded by Bowman (1934, 415) as 'double rampart' fort on Mr Nash's land; interior platform c. 5ft higher than surrounding field and outer rampart 5ft H.
