Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Coolreagh (connello Upper By.)

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy forts are no such thing. They are ordinary ringforts, human made, from the seventh to tenth centuries. People built them to keep out invaders, not to mark the homes of fairies. The name came later, when people forgot the truth and invented a story to explain what they no longer understood.
