Clear field, shallow ditch, flat top: a ringfort reduced to a disc. People may have lived there before the fort name changed, but the shape still points to a defended household. Coolnamara keeps the edge of that life beneath grass and rain.

Approximately circular platform (diam. c. 20m; H c. 1m) probably represents remains of ringfort.

A fairy fort, also known as an earthen ringfort or rath, in Coolnamara is a circular earthwork enclosure typical of early-medieval Ireland, likely dating to between the 5th and 10th centuries AD. Local folklore often associates such sites with the faerie folk or ancient druidic rituals, though specific traditions connected to this site are not well documented.
