Fairy forts are human ringforts misnamed, often through human arrogance or cowardice. This is a ringfort, now levelled, in Coolmore near Orrery and Kilmore. It appeared on maps as a circular enclosure about twenty-five metres across, then vanished under pasture and forgetting. The fairies took no part in building it; people did, lived there, left it, and let the land smooth the edge.
