What is recorded here

Coolgarriff held a forty-metre earthen ring before carts and walls stole half its shape. The eastern rampart still bumps beneath pasture while a modern field completes the missing west, proving human hands built the circle others call fairy work.

In pasture. Levelled; depicted as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 40m) on 1842 OS 6-inch map, bisected by laneway running E-W; partially levelled on 1904 and 1938 OS 6-inch maps. According to Hartnett (1939, 98), 'half the rampart remains to the E, but is is nearly levelled....and a modern field wall, forms the NW boundary of the fort'.
