A four-metre gap in the west bank still marks the entrance to a forty-metre circular enclosure, where grassy rims and a shallow ditch survive beneath pasture. The fort belongs to the long human occupation of Coolbane East, not merely to fairy legend. A limekiln built into the south bank shows the place remained useful long after its original shape was made. Children’s graves nearby remind that ordinary life, loss and memory belonged here as much as wonder does.

In pasture, on the break of a gentle S-facing slope. The remains of a raised circular area (diam. 40m) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 10m; int. H 0.1m; ext. H 0.6m) with an intervening fosse (Wth 2m; D 0.1m) and an outer earthen bank (Wth 5.5m; int. H 0.1m; ext. H 0.15m) ENE-ESE. The interior slopes down from the bank to a level central area. There is an entrance (Wth c. 4m) at WNW. A limekiln (KE057-123----) is built into the bank at S. The rath is indicated on the 1846 OS 6-inch map as an embanked circular enclosure with trees lining the bank along the N and S arcs. A children's burial ground (KE057-066----) is c. 120m to the E.
