What is recorded here

Condonstown holds a hidden ringfort where a low earthen bank circles a shallow ditch on a sunny slope. People called it a fairy fort, perhaps because the real history vanished before anyone wrote it down. Cattle still walk across the place where humans once lived, turning ancient memory into ordinary ground.

In pasture, on a S-facing slope. A circular slightly concave area (diam. 26m) defined by a low wide bank (Wth c. 8m; ext. H 0.55m), more pronounced to the E and W, and a wide shallow fosse (Wth c. 8m; D 0.8m). The rath is known locally as a 'fort' but it was not indicated on any edition of the OS 6-inch maps and only came to attention in 2000. This may be one of two levelled unlocated ringforts in the townland (CO064-123----, CO064-124----) which were mentioned by Power (1917, 29) as having 'been thrown down'.
