Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Cloonmore (islands By.)

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Cloonmore in County Clare holds a earthen ringfort, a simple circular defence that still stands out against the local land. People may have lived there, watched the surrounding area or claimed the fort belonged to fairies when human memories faded. The earthwork remains clear enough to show that the site marked a boundary, a home or a story people still recognised.
