Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Clonbouig (carbery East (e.d.) By., Ringrone Par.)

Fairy fort in Clonbouig, a circular earthen ringfort thirty-six metres across, still holds its shape on the western edge of an east-west ridge in County Cork. Its one-metre bank and shallow outside ditch mark a deliberate boundary, while the raised interior shows someone learning the slope before building upon it. The southeast entrance faces the open land, inviting entry rather than hiding it. People may have lived there, tended animals, or simply remembered the shape as a fairy fort because it belonged before human records began.
