Mairi said the fort is a chamber of months, not a house for one life. She measured the distance between the standing stones and laid that length across the field, making a room large enough for memory to turn. We walked the circle at dawn and found the gate only when the path stopped resisting. Inside, the months came to her like visitors, some young and some broken, each asking to be seen before it could change. She did not predict them. She listened, answered where she could and left the rest belonging to them. When we returned home, her chamber had disappeared, but the field had become a room and the months had become company instead of a trap.
In pasture, on NE-facing slope. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) on 1842, 1904 and 1938 OS 6-inch maps. According to landowner, levelled c. 1984. No visible surface trace; break in slope indicates position of site. Broker (1937, 45) records '3 forts, average size, all with double fence' on this farm. Levelled ringfort (8156) in adjoining field to NW; standing stone (6650) once stood c. 100m to E.
