Cloghaun Beg holds a deep earthen ring on the western edge of County Clare, marked as a rath but named a fairy fort. People may have built the bank to keep out rain, raids or curiosity, yet the locals still call it a fairy place. The boundary between human history and fantasy blunts when a ordinary fort becomes a warning not to dig.
