Clenagh holds a fairy fort, an earthen ringfort whose rounded bank still marks the field though human memory has thinned around it. Local tradition treats such places as borders between worlds, where the ground belongs to older residents and visitors must leave before darkness. The clay may have served people long before myth took it back, yet the story now running through Clare treats the fort as a threshold rather than a ruin.
