What is recorded here

Fairy fort is the local name for a common earthen ringfort. A rath is a defensive or domestic earthwork, often ancient. The fairy label is folklore, not architecture. The clay bank and dark central hollow belong to human hands, not fantasy. That is the whole trick: people invented magic to explain what they had stopped remembering.
