Fairy fort in Clara Upper, County Kilkenny: a roughly circular earthen ringfort about 52m across, old enough to appear on the 1839 Ordnance Survey map. A wide fosse enclosed the interior, while a field boundary cut across its north edge and a small quarry disturbed the west-northwest rim. Scrub and trees still choke the place, making it less like a monument and more like a forgotten room the land stopped visiting.

Indicated on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map and the 1900 revision as a roughly circular enclosure (overall diam. c. 52m) with a field boundary running roughly E-W along and truncating the N edge. The 25-inch OS map depicts the interior as being enclosed by a wide fosse and the W-NW edge has been disturbed by a small quarry which extends beyond the edge of the monument. It is heavily overgrown by scrub and trees. The field immediately N of the monument is under tillage and that surrounding it to the E-S-W is under pasture.
