Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Cauhoo

Marianne and the endless bread ring An end chamber held a shallow stone basin where white dough swirled like milk under a green star. Marianne dipped her cup, drank, and tasted barley, honey, rain and childhood. The chamber widened. Rooms appeared without walls, each belonging to a person she had forgotten. She walked through them, naming the joys and losses she had dropped. In one room a child laughed. In another a woman sang through tears. Marianne returned them to her body. When she emerged she was heavier, not in flesh but in memory. The bread ring had fed the hunger she had refused to see.
