Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Castletown (carbery East (w.d.) By.) is a roughly circular area (60.2m N-S; 64.6m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (H 1.55m) WNW->WSW; scarp to W; external fosse (D 1m). Small upright boulders form outer facing to S. Two mounds of field clearance stones dumped in interior. The name still invites wonder even though the shape and stones are plain. People may have lived, hidden or played inside the bank before forgetting why the stones stood upright.
