What is recorded here
Fairy fort in Castle Upper, County Cork. Earth and stone on a south-facing slope above Timoleague and Courtmacsherry Bys. No visible trace remains, but the shape is still claimed by memory. People may have lived there, or excluded others from that small circle of land. The bay light and pasture silence keep the claim alive.
In pasture, on S-facing slope, overlooking Timoleague and Courtmacsherry Bays to S. No visible surface trace.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
