Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Cartronmore is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Cartronmore, County Sligo, Ireland. The slightly raised circular area measures about twenty-two metres across and sits on a slight south-southwest-facing slope in wet pasture. A low bank of earth and stone encloses the centre, while a shallow ditch runs along its external foot. From the south-southwest to west-southwest the bank and ditch disappear, leaving a scarp to define the circuit.
Situated on a slight SSW-facing slope, in wet pasture. Slightly raised circular area (diam. c.22m) enclosed by a low bank of earth and stone (Wth 3.2m; int. H 0.45m). At the external foot of the bank is a fosse (Wth 2.3m; D 0.4m). From SSW-WSW the bank and fosse are absent and the circuit is defined by a scarp (ext. H 1.1m). The original entrance is not recognisable. Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 21 April 2011
