Carrowsteelagh holds a broken earthen ring on a ridge above boggy ground, its southern edge still wearing old stone facing while the rest has surrendered to grass and rain. The name warns that humans may have built the visible bank but the hidden passage beneath belongs to the fairies, who tolerate witness only when nobody watches.

On a ridge overlooking boggy ground and a small stream to N. Poorly preserved subcircular rath (35m N-S; 32m E-W) defined by a bank from N through E to SW; stone-facing is evident at S. Elsewhere a scarp forms the enclosing element. A Man-made underground passage (GA104-098001-) is associated (McCaffrey 1952, 223, no. 90).
