Fairy fort in Carrowroe, County Galway: a well-preserved earthen ringfort on an east-facing slope, with two banks, a ditch between them and a narrow eastern gap. It overlooks bog to the southwest, while grassland rolls around it and two earth ridges run away to the south and southwest. People may have lived there, marked territory there or kept livestock near it; the shape still does that work, holding its circle against time.

On an E-facing slope in undulating grassland overlooking bog to SW. Well-preserved subcircular rath (N-S 59m, E-W 56m) defined by two banks of earth and stone and an intervening fosse. A gap (Wth 3.8m) at E appears original. A field bank overlies the outer bank from N to NE. Two earthen banks, possibly associated, radiate from the monument at S and SW.
