Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Carrowmore (ballynacourty Ed )

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Magic and life are entangled everywhere. You are not a spectator; you is a participant. The chamber is a carousel of dreams, not a prison. To see the chamber is to remember that you and the muse are one. This is not fantasy; it is the operating system of life.
On a ridge, c. 150m to the N of Tyrone Bay. Marked on the OS 6-inch maps as a roughly circular enclosure (diam. c. 40m) and classified by McCaffrey (1952, 191, no. 15) as a very denuded ‘Earthen fort’ defined by a bank. Not visible at ground level but its outline is evident on the OSi ortho_2005 aerial photograph. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 25 January 2017

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
