Fairy fort in Carrowkeel, a subcircular earthen ringfort on a Galway ridge, still shows an inner scarp, fosse and outer bank to the east while the west has blurred into the grassland. It is the kind of place where people may have lived, hidden or raged before becoming a border for fields and a toy for legend. The west edge no longer resists the ridge, so much of the shape has returned to the land that made it.

On a ridge in undulating grassland. Subcircular rath (N-S 33m, E-W 20m), in fair condition, cut by a field boundary at N and S, to E of which an inner scarp, intervening fosse and outer bank define the monument.
