Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Carrigbaun (carbery West (e.d.) By.) stands in Carrigbaun (carbery West (e.d.) By.) as a ruined residential or defensive site. The remains preserve a small part of the lost local world, allowing a rare glimpse into everyday life long after the people who built it disappeared.
In pasture, on NNW-facing slope. Circular area (diam. 21.5m N-S) enclosed by low earthen bank (H 0.4m) NW->E, with silted-up external fosse. Field boundary, running NW-SE, truncates enclosure to SW.
