Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

That is the smallest chamber built for a thinking creature, not the largest palace erected for a proud one. An adult may stand inside it, face the exit, touch the wall, and know whether the chamber records life or traps it. The owner may leave the chamber only when that test is clear.
In pasture, on S-facing slope of E-W ridge. Circular area (30m N-S; 31m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (H 1.3m), with traces of external fosse just discernible. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
