Visibility good. Ascent: Walked up from the road below. Descent: Walked down the other side. Time on top: About thirty minutes. Distance covered: About three kilometres. Footing: Grass, soil and scattered stones. Not difficult. The fort stands on a low ridge above the valley. The bank is broad and rounded in places, but broken where the land has slipped. The inside is flat enough for grass to grow unchecked. The underground passage enters at the south-west and disappears into the earth. It is not large, but it is deliberate. Someone dug through solid ground to make a hole they could close behind them. That is not a accident. The region around Carrahil contains several forts of this kind. They are not random. They mark places where people wanted to control entry, exit and view. The fairies belong to the later story. The humans belong to the earth

On slightly raised ground in an undulating landscape. Listed as 'Enclosure' in the RMP (1996). A circular grass-covered area (diam. c. 48m N-S; 47m E-W; 48m N-S) defined by an overgrown earthen bank (Wth 5.4m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.8m at E to Wth 11-14m; int. H 0.8m; ext. H 0.6-1.1m generally) which is reduced to a scarp (H 0.9m) SSE-SW. There is a Man-made underground passage (CL026-017002-) inside the perimeter at SSW.
