Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Carker

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

No visible trace remains in Carker, though local memory holds the fort is buried beneath a field. That absence is the shape of the place: a ringfort removed from sight but never forgotten. People may have stopped seeing the rampart while continuing to believe the boundary still exists. The land keeps its own record when human markers disappear.
The Archaeological Survey of Ireland (ASI) is in the process of providing information on all monuments on The Historic Environment Viewer (HEV).
