Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Cahercannavan

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Cahercannavan is a ringfort, an earthen circle built by human hands in County Clare. The fairy fort name is local story, not fact. The earth still stands where people lived, worked and left the place behind.

A fairy fort, or earthen ringfort, in Cahercannavan is a circular earthwork enclosure typical of early-medieval Ireland, likely dating to between the 5th and 10th centuries AD. Such sites are often associated with local folklore, including beliefs in fairy habitation and other supernatural elements.
