Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Bullaun (loughrea By.)

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

You can still see the shadow of that fort in the ground, a shallow dish where the earth remembers being shaped. It is no wonder people called it a fairy fort, because the boundary between human making and fantasy blunts when the walls disappear. What is left is a suggestion, a ring of memory in the soil that invites imagination to complete what time has erased.
