What is recorded here
Lissagower is a circular earth and stone ringfort with a 41m internal diameter, standing immediately east of a disused house in Bishopscourt North. Its 4m wide bank rises 1.8m externally, enclosing a raised interior where a slight northern depression may mark modern disturbance rather than ancient purpose. The name Lios an Ghabhair, ringfort of the goat, suggests the place still belongs to memory and imagination as much as to archaeology.

Lissagower/Lios an Ghabhair (ringfort of the goat). Situated immediately E of a large, now-disused house, this site lies SSW of KE009-054----. Rattoo round tower (KE009-056001-) lies to the S. This univallate circular rath is enclosed by a c 4m wide earth and stone bank. It rises to a maximum height of 1.8m externally and 1.5m above the interior. The interior, which is at a higher level than the surrounding land, contains a slight depression 7m wide and .6m deep in the N sector. Since the exterior side was used as a dump, this depression could be a modern disturbance.

Lios an Ghabhair is an early-medieval earthen ringfort, likely dating to between the 6th and 10th centuries, associated with the name "ringfort of the goat." It is traditionally linked to fairy folklore, as suggested by its common name "Fairy fort," and is located near other historic sites including Rattoo round tower.
