Fairy fort in Berrings, County Cork. Circular clay bank thirty metres across stands two metres high, guarding a hollow where ferns still choke the ground. An ancient bell surfaced there, perhaps church-made, perhaps something else entirely. The bank rises highest to the south, as if shaping the wind or keeping something out. Road and lane skirt it north and west, treating the circle as a boundary rather than a curiosity. People once planted trees inside, then stopped. The hole remains, patient and unexplained.

In pasture. Circular area (diam. 30.3m) enclosed by earthen bank (H 2.5m). Bank highest to S. Roadway and laneway skirt enclosure to N and W respectively. Interior partially overgrown with ferns; formerly planted with trees (Hartnett 1939, 227). Ancient (church?) bell found here (O'Sullivan 1955).
