Fairy fort in Bellville, County Cavan: a raised oval, 36.4m by 30.7m inside, wrapped in an earthen bank with a faint fosse at the north-northwest. Later hands cut a narrow berm and shallow trench, probably to steady a tree-ring, while the older entrances may still face east-northeast or east-southeast. People may have lived there before becoming a fairy fort in story, but the earth keeps both lives without explaining which is true.

Raised oval area (int. dims. 36.4m N-S; 30.7m E-W) enclosed by an earthen bank, remains of a fosse, a narrow berm and a shallow trench. Fosse identifiable only at NNW. The berm and trench probably date to the period when the site was adapted for use as a tree- ring. Original entrance(s) may have been at ENE and/or ESE.
