Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Bellayarha South

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy fort in Bellayarha South is a 30.5m earthen ringfort on a W-facing hillock, its two banks and fosse still marking the shape after interior quarrying. The southern gap may be the original entrance, inviting entry into a space where human hands and fairy tale both claim the same circle.
On W-facing slope of a hillock in gently rolling grassland. An almost circular rath (30.5m E-W; 29m N-S), in fair condition, defined by two banks of earth and stone and an intervening fosse. A gap (Wth 3m) in the inner bank at S may be original. The outer bank only survives from SSW through W to N. The interior has been extensively quarried.
